Summer in DC
I realize at this point, that I haven't blogged in over 6 months. This is highly unacceptable in the blog world, however I think my excuses are valid. Let's review them and decipher for ourselves:
1.) DC/MD is COLD in the winter. No travel, little to no events. Just indoors, tv and movies.
2.) When Spring 2010 hit, heading outdoors was #1 on the list. Not blogging, emailing, facebooking or IMing. I needed to be OUTSIDE.
3.) Personal life: my relationships with people took over my life, and personal writing goals. Working to manage them more equally.
Now that my excuses for NOT blogging are out, I should follow-up with some fascinating events/vacations/ or stories to blog about. Lets see, the new places that I've discovered are:
Bar 7: Downtown DC, across from the convention center, and around the corner from Lux Lounge. Happy Hour in the summer from 5-7pm open bar. You cant beat that. Saturday nights are a bit roudy, and the general "club crowd" which I am moving away from, but if you're in the mood to party, then that's the spot to do it.
The Prelude @ the Beacon Hotel: Dupont Circle area's summer rooftop summer day-party is back in full effect. It's where the fabulous come out to be/look fabulous. The weather is conducive to summer dresses, sunglasses and island hats. The attendees reads like a DC version of a black Hamptons. Music is good and drinks are priced right. Nice way to hang out during the day in DC.
Alliance for Women in Media (AWM formerlly AWRT) Star Awards: The award ceremony was for radio living legend Cathy Hughes. Ms. Hughes could not be more humble, personable and gracious. Just hearing her story first hand, and her mission in life and in what she sees as important in the industry of radio was refreshing. Ms. Hughes does not bite her tongue, and her work ethic is inspiring.
Now that I've given a tidbit of info to add to this blog, I have to note that the format of this blog will be changing. I want to find a way to be more connected to this blog, and have by readers more connected as well. Any suggestions are welcome. Writing is cathartic for me, and I love the gift of words. Look for more to come in the 2nd half of 2010.
