Johnson City, TN

If you would have told me that the highlight summer vacations 2009 would be Tennessee, I would have laughed out loud. For some reason, slowing down and taking time to enjoy the little things really make for a fulfilling vacation.

The Road Trip: Maryland to Richmond/ Richmond to Johnson City.

The Arrival: Thursday 4:35pm, Doubletree Hotel

The Activities: Mall shopping, 3 days of BBQ's, Umoja Festival full with African Dancers, friend foods and music.

Clubbing: Karma Niteclub, Visions "Grown & Sexy" party

There is so much that happened during the trip, but since this blog is travel specific, I will only share that Johnson City is very family oriented. Everyone seems to know each other. Green hills are the background to this "city" and there is only one High School which is also connected to the Middle School.

The Departure: Sunday @ Sunset, post final BBQ.

Not sure that I would run back to JC, TN but I certainly wouldn't be opposed. Next time Memphis or Nashville!

It has been a few months since my last blog on travels, mostly because I've only been to Orlando (quasi-hometown) and NY for a 36 hour turn-around visit. Busy in DC

SO as of late, I've been uber-busy in DC. ( I understand that uber is reserved for teenagers and valley girls, but I'm somewhere in-between, the two, so leave me be!) DC is full of things to do in the Spring/Summer, and my interest is blooming (get it bloom...spring...). I've now started to partake, once again, in Salsa during the week. I plan to pick up on my karaoke next week, and then eventually, dare I say it, start jogging in Rock Creek Park. I know, it seems far fetched, and may even be too hard to believe. I guess you will just have to wait and see. My latest motions in DC have uncovered the following: EATONVILLE restaurant...I'm biased on this one, but it's good I promise. Lima Salsa Monday's...so much fun, so many people, the summer is looking promising. SILVERDOCS...their doc festival starts soon, and will have me taking in the cinematic arts. Bar Louie...been here a few times (Mardi Gras & Superbowl included) and it's the new NBA Playoff's...

2014...what a year!

First I'd like to say that it has been far too long since I've posted to this blog. I guess that's what happens when you're busy living life instead of just writing about it. I would like to say that this year took me beyond what I thought was possible. I did the normal trips to Orlando early on in the year to see family. Had a fun weekend getaway in Las Vegas. I also went to Long Island, NY this summer to see my cousin get married in the most beautiful affair. Lastly, I ventured to the west coast, to my beloved California, and spent some time in San Diego. But wait! That is not all. I had the pleasure and shear humbling joy of an opportunity to go to Dubai, U.A.E. and CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA!!! Yes, me. Little ole me went half way around the world to places that I'd only dreamed of visiting. I was able to participate in a desert safari, and view the sky scrapers of Dubai. I was able to stay at a resort right on the water in Cape Town, party on Long Street, and en...
